A Leesburg woman was arrested for battery after allegedly choking her boyfriend while breaking up with him over cheating allegations.
An officer responded to a battery at an undisclosed Leesburg residence around 1 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the LPD.
Upon arrival, the officer was met by the male victim who had markings and fresh blood on the right side of his neck. He advised that he went to the incident location to meet with 31-year-old Jakeisha Chantez Hagan to get the brakes changed on her car, the report said.
While in the process of getting ready to leave, Hagan accused the victim of cheating. She told him that she no longer wanted to be in a relationship with him. He said he was going to grab his belongings from the residence, the report said.
Hagan then charged at the victim and began to choke him with her hands. She proceeded to scratch his neck and push him onto the couch before grabbing his belongings and throwing them onto the ground. The victim was able to get his belongings, after which he left the residence to contact law enforcement, the report said.
The officer further examined the fresh scratch mark on the right side of the victim’s neck, which was consistent with his story. He also showed the officer a scratch on his left arm, the report said.
Officers tried to make contact with Hagan at the incident location but were unsuccessful. A short time later, as they were leaving the scene, they found her, the report said.
Additionally, due to Hagan and the victim being in a dating relationship for about four years, living together in the past and having a child in common, the incident was domestic in nature, the report said.
Hagan was arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic) and transported to Lake County Jail to be held without bond.
