Leesburg commissioners will be considering a proposed mixed use development during the meeting on Monday night.
The 31-acre parcel is located south of County Road 48, west of U.S. Hwy. 27 and east of Haywood Worm Farm Road and is owned by Blount Birchmier, Leesburg LLC. The developer is seeking to have the zoning changed to City General Commercial.
The plan, if approved, will allow a maximum of 250 townhomes and 24,000 square feet of commercial space which will border on County Road 48. Richard Blount, the manager for the project, has constructed several hundred apartment residences in Wildwood.
Blount, a resident of the The Villages, has been acquiring land in Florida, Tennessee, and other “high-potential areas” across the United States, according to his website.
