Officers responded to a vehicle crash near South 14th Street and South Street at around 5:36 p.m. Oct. 23, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The caller provided a description of a blue and white Ford Mustang being involved.

One of the officers spotted the driver of a white Ford Mustang with blue striping, later identified as 46-year-old Kimberly Donna Marie Love, headed eastbound on Dixie Avenue with a flat front tire. The officer stopped the vehicle regarding its possible involvement. It was determined that the driver, Love, and her vehicle were in a traffic crash near South 14th Street and South Street, and a second crash around Dixie Avenue and South Ninth Street, the report said.

Another officer arrived and contacted the first, who was finishing the investigation into the second crash. He relayed his concerns that Love was impaired due to observing several signs of impairment, the report said.

The officer approached Love who was seated in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and the sole occupant. She displayed several indicators of impairment, including glassy eyes and slurred speech. He explained to her that the other officer had conducted the crash investigation, and he was doing a criminal investigation due to her possible impairment, the report said.

Love was then asked to step out of the vehicle and participate in field sobriety exercises, to which she agreed. Her performance, which included staggering and confusion, led the officer to conclude she was under the influence. She later provided two breath samples that registered at 0.247g/210L and 0.240g/210L of breath, the report said.

The native of Canada was subsequently arrested on charge of DUI (accident/property damage or minor injury). She was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond.
