On the afternoon of July 8, Leesburg patrol officers responded to Overlook at Lake Griffin regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers observed a victim, 20-year-old James Jordan, lying in the front yard of a residence within the 2200 block of Aitkin Loop with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rendered aid until EMS arrived on scene to transport him to UF Health Leesburg Hospital, located at 600 E. Dixie Avenue, where he later died.

Detectives identified a vehicle that had been used in the crime early in the investigation. They were able to find and seize the vehicle, recovering several items of evidentiary value.

On Aug. 30, detectives issued a warrant for 18-year-old Ondrique Dior Mosely. He was arrested without incident in Lady Lake that same day. His charge is principal to homicide (premeditated) with no bond.
