Norma Thompson Lilly, 81, of Altoona, passed away peacefully at Lakeview Terrace retirement community on June 27, 2024. Norma was born on June 11, 1943 in Macon, Georgia, as the only child of Charles D. Thompson and Jewell Harbin (Ira Hill) Kirksey. She graduated from McEvoy High School in Macon in 1961 with her lifelong friend Cynthia (Quinn) Dees. Norma went on to earn a Medical Technologist Certification from MCNH in Macon and served many fruitful years as a dedicated lab technician. Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, and homemaker. She was married to the late James W. Tweeddale for nearly fifty years and to the late Nat D. Lilly for six years.

Norma will be remembered for her gracious demeanor, beautiful smile, listening ear, compassionate heart, and tough spirit. She loved to read the newspaper, especially the cartoons, do crossword puzzles, mark up her Bible and copy of Charles Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening devotional, and, most of all, support her family.

Norma will be deeply missed by her son Jimmy (Wenona) Tweeddale of Fredericksburg, Virginia; daughter Karen Tweeddale-Chappel of Gainesville, Florida; daughter Cathy Tweeddale of St. Louis, Missouri; son John (Angela) Tweeddale of Mount Dora; grandchildren James (Candice), Joseph (Michael), Trey, Emilie (Andy Brockman), Richard, Savannah (Joanna), Theo, Amelia, Knox, Evelyn, and great-grandchildren Henry, Owen, Milo, Emilia; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, at Hamlin and Hilbish in Eustis, Florida, followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 11:30 a.m.
