A Leesburg woman was arrested after she reportedly pointed a gun at her roommate during an argument over a dirty bathtub.

Hykel Jana McGee, 26, was charged with simple battery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after the incident, which happened Monday night at an undisclosed apartment complex in Leesburg.

The victim told an officer her argument with McGee started when McGee shouted about the bathtub being dirty. The victim said she shouted back, which led McGee to start kicking the victim’s belongings out of her bedroom. The victim tried to stop McGee by getting between her and her belongings, and McGee responded by pushing the victim several times before leaving the bedroom, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

The victim said McGee returned a few minutes later holding a handgun. The victim told McGee she was taking the argument too far, and the two continued to argue about the victim leaving the residence at McGee’s request. The victim observed McGee “clutching” the pistol and appearing to grow increasingly angry, the report said.

A short time later, McGee left the apartment and the victim followed her. The victim used her cellphone to record McGee as she walked around the complex towards a concrete wall and tossed the handgun into a grassy area, according to the report.

The victim showed the officer the footage and led him to the area. The officer was able to scale a 4-foot wall and found a silver .22 caliber Jennings J-22 that matched the victim’s description. It had one round in the chamber and four in the magazine, the report said.

A criminal history search showed that McGee was convicted of a felony in February 2020.  She was taken to the Lake County Jail, where she was released after posting $11,000 bond.
