A food truck in Leesburg was temporarily shut down last week when an inspector found a variety of health code violations, including sewage being dumped on location.
An inspector ordered operations to stop until four high priority violations, six intermediate violations and 13 basic violations could be corrected at Taqueria Las Catrinas food truck, which was located at 4120 Corley Island Road in Leesburg.
The inspector issued warnings for sewage being dumped under the food truck, as a puddle of water with soap bubbles was visible on the ground. An employee stated when the wastewater tank was full, they used a bucket to dump wastewater into the woods, according to a report on file with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
Other high priority violations included raw beef stored on a shelf in reach of salsa in the cooler. One employee touched their soiled apron and clothes before prepping food, handling clean equipment or utensils, or touching unwrapped single-service items without washing their hands. A female employee touched her phone, her face and a pan of food without washing her hands, the report said.
The intermediate violations included a table soiled with food debris, an extension cord running through a sink area where employees should wash their hands, and several pans of pork and chicken made the day before with no date mark, the report said.
There was also no certified food service manager on duty with four or more employees engaged in food prep and handling, no proof of required state-approved employee training, and no proof provided that any food employees were informed of their responsibility to report to the person in charge of information about their health and activities related to foodborne illnesses, the report said.
Basic violations included clean utensils stored in a soiled bus pan under a prep table, debris under shelves, spatulas between the grill and tabletop, and the bottoms of two reach-in coolers and the exterior of the microwave soiled with grease and food debris. The food truck also had flat tires and was not able to move.
