A Leesburg man was arrested for battery after allegedly jumping on his girlfriend’s back and attacking her during a verbal argument.
An officer responded to Wawa, located at 1400 W. North Boulevard, regarding a battery around 8:57 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Upon arrival, he met with the female victim who stated she was in a verbal altercation with her boyfriend, 33-year-old Eric Dean Horner, at their shared residence.
The victim advised they were yelling back and forth at each other for about 10-15 minutes while Horner threw her personal property around. She told him to stop, at which point he told her to “shut up and get out,” the report said.
The victim then told him to get her evicted and started walking away when Horner jumped on her back. She was knocked down onto the bed where he placed his hands around her neck, pulled her hair and struck her on the right side of her face, the report said.
While speaking with the victim, the officer observed markings on her left cheek, on her neck just below her chin and on her right arm. She informed him that Horner was still at the residence when she left and called the LPD, the report said.
Several officers relocated to the undisclosed Leesburg residence in an attempt to make contact with Horner. While approaching the residence, one of the officers spotted Horner looking out the window through the blinds. They were able to meet with him, after which he was handcuffed and transported to the LPD for the booking process, the report said.
The Washington native was charged with simple battery (domestic). He was released from jail after posting $1,500 bond.
