An investigation regarding the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man in Leesburg is ongoing as police seek help from the public to find a suspect.
On Monday at about 2:30 p.m., Leesburg patrol officers responded to the 2200 block of Aitkin Loop (Overlook at Lake Griffin) regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers observed a victim, 20-year-old James Jordan, lying in the front yard of a residence within the 2200 block of Aitkin Loop with multiple gunshot wounds.
Leesburg officers quickly rendered aid to the victim until EMS and Leesburg Fire Department arrived on scene. The victim was transported by ground to UF Health Leesburg Hospital, located at 600 E. Dixie Avenue. He died at the hospital.
Leesburg officers immediately established a perimeter and requested a K-9 unit. Leesburg detectives and CSI also responded and conducted the on-scene investigation, including a canvas of nearby residences.
