Patsy Ruth Carnahan
January 19, 1936 – February 22, 2024
Patsy Ruth Carnahan, 88, of Mount Dora, Florida, passed away on February 22, 2024. She was born on January 19, 1936, in Arista, West Virginia.
Patsy grew up in the mountains of West Virginia in the small coal mining town of Arista. She always had a bright smile and a wonderful laugh for everyone. Patsy attended Marshall University, where she met the love of her life, Brad Carnahan, whom she later married. They moved to Miami, Florida, in 1959. Patsy dedicated her early years of marriage to raising their four children and being involved in youth sports alongside her husband. She pursued a Home Economics degree when her children were older and began a fulfilling career at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami, as a transplant coordinator to secure tissue for corneal transplants. She later became the Director of Volunteer Services where she implemented many changes that helped elevate the patient experience.
Patsy was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Family was her top priority, and her warmth and care touched the lives of many. She is survived by her son, Brad Carnahan (Loretta), daughters Vicki Carnahan Tracy and Kathleen Carnahan Fetzer (Jeff), eleven grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. Patsy was preceded in death by her father, Melville G. Jones, mother, Ruth Jones, brother, M.G.( Jerry) Jones, husband, Bradford Wayne Carnahan, son, Daniel G. Carnahan, grandson, Jesse Carnahan and great-grandson Bradley Frederick Carr.
Patsy Ruth Carnahan’s life will be celebrated at a family gathering where love and memories will be shared. As she liked to say ” Don’t Worry Be Happy”
She will be incredibly missed by her family as well as the many lives she touched.
