The Lake County Office of Housing and Community Services is partnering with the Elder Affairs Coordinating Council to host the 2023 Senior Expo. The event includes public speakers, opportunities for vaccinations, and 46 vendors from around Central Florida. The expo will take place on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lake Square Mall in Leesburg.

The 2023 Senior Expo event is an opportunity for members of the elderly community to learn about service providers and resources available throughout Lake County.

The event is an opportunity to receive vaccines and learn about the various community programs available to seniors. Lake County Veterans Services, Big Red Bus, Lake County Sheriff’s Office, and the Florida Department of Health are among the 46 organizations available to provide information on their services and programs.

The scheduled topics and speakers presenting at the expo are:

  • 10:00 a.m. – Emergency Preparedness with Capt. Jon Carey, Lake County Fire Rescue
  • 10:30 a.m. – POA’s, Living Wills, Trusts with Paralegal Carrie Cline, Community Legal Services
  • 11:00 a.m. – Community Programs with C.O.P. Coordinator Ed Nathanson, Lake County Sheriff’s Office
  • 11:30 a.m. – Ask the Cardiologist with Dr. Henry Lesmes, AdventHealth
  • 12:00 p.m. – Dementia; More than a Diagnosis with award-winning memory care program developer and author Joshua J. Frietas, PH.D., and Certified Dementia Professional Theda Heiserman, Certus
