Carlos (Charlie) Martin Saavedra, 85, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2023 at his home in Leesburg, Florida. Charlie was the son of Victor Hugo Saavedra and Juanita Saavedra. Charlie was married to Milagros (Millie) Saavedra for 69 years.
Charlie served in the Marine Corps. He also served 9 years as Chief of Police for the Orange City Police Department. And served for the Volusia and Orange County Sheriff’s Departments.
He is survived by his wife Milagros (Millie), his children Renee Melendez, Michael Saavedra, Denise Clark, Christina Torres, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and four siblings. He was preceded by his son Charles Saavedra and daughter Debra Turner.
A memorial service will be held on October 14, 2023, 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Leesburg, South Campus 25900 US-27, Leesburg, FL 34748.
A graveside service will be held on October 16, 2023, 11:00 AM at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 S.W. 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513.
