Donald Arnoldt Tsolo, 83, of Leesburg FL, passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2022, with his beloved wife by his side. Donald was born on May 1, 1939, in Vereeniging, South Africa to his loving parents; Jeremiah and Lydia (Tau) Tsolo.
Donald grew up in South Africa, received a bountiful start to his education there and also taught other students at Lesotho University at the age of 21 before receiving a scholarship to Georgetown University. Following his move to Washington DC, he then relocated to Zambia where he had a farm, and then Jamaica, where he met his wife Evadne. In September of 1974 Evadne and Donald crossed paths and began to date. Soon after, in March of 1975, the couple got married and moved to Pennsylvania where they raised their beautiful family. Evadne and Donald celebrated 47 loving years together.
Donald received his Doctorate from Temple University and worked passionately as a behavioral specialist for many years. Donald was very intellectual and loved to participate in a good-hearted political debate as a strong Democrat. He was also an author and wrote the book: “The Promise: Black Youth Confront the Cauldron of Apartheid.”
Donald was an avid tennis player and a member of the Plantation Tennis Association as well as the Plantation Writers Guild. He will be remembered fondly for his love of dancing, his contagious smile, and always having the loudest laugh in the room. Donald was a friendly and positive man, he made sure to always share his joy with others. He will be missed dearly by his friends and family.
Donald is survived by his wife, Evadne, two children: Tshaka Tsolo and his wife Christy of Wheatland, PA, and Nakita Pettiford and her husband Vance of Farrell, PA. As well as a brother, Molupe Tsolo of South Africa and four precious grandchildren; Alexis, Sean, Gavin, and Jylen.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ben, and three sisters, Patricia, Elizabeth, and Selena.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Donalds loving memory to Corpus Christi Episcopal Church in Okahumpka, FL.
