John Edward Downey, age 80, of Tavares, FL passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, July 20th. Son of William and Dorothy, born on February 2nd, 1942.
His family was the biggest part of his life. He was always full of love and knew how to make us all laugh and smile. He worked hard as a mechanic and always loved working with his hands, building things, remodeling houses and rebuilding engines. He was always full of so much love for his family and his friends. We will always remember him and keep him in our hearts forever.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Martha Jane Downey; His two daughters, Beverly Jean Green and husband David and Martha Jane Smith and husband Scott; His five grandchildren, John Edward Brown, Amanda Renee Smith, Andrea Marlene Junco and husband Ivan, Zachary David Green, Thomas Isaac Green; His five great grandchildren, Nicholas Lionel Junco, Audrey Mae Junco, Ryan Alexander, Junco, Ava Marie Junco, Marlie Jean Jackson.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 10:00AM until 11:00AM at Steverson Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home, Tavares, FL. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:00AM.
