Robert “Bob” Jenkins
Bob Jenkins (age 79) passed away peacefully in his sleep at Waterman hospital on April 23, 2022 from heart failure. He was born in Corning, NY in 1943. His family moved to Florida and he graduated from Eustis High School in 1961.
He then served four years in the US Marine Corp, having been deployed aboard a Navy ship off the coast of Cuba in 1962 during the Cuban missile crisis, guarding the Navel base in Cuba in 1963, and helping in restoring order to the Dominican Republic during their civil war of 1965.
Bob married the love of his life Ms. Lena Mae Oliphant of Mooresville, NC in late 1965. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1972 and returned to Eustis, Florida with his beautiful bride to raise his three young children.
His wife, children and grandchildren were his greatest pride and joy. He enjoyed football, nascar, horse shoes, reading a good book and spending time with family and friends. Bob was kind and loving to everyone. His warm smile and personality was proof that every person in the world, to him, was just a friend he hadn’t met yet.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife Lena, sister Dorothy, and brother Bill. He is survived by his sister Shirley of VA, son Lee Jenkins, daughters Paula Welter and Pamela Haupt, grandchildren Ryan, Tyler, Hayden, Cole, Kennedy, Mason, and Ella.
A Celebration of life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Eustis on Friday, May 20th at 3pm located at 117 S. Center Street.
