A woman who was arrested on prostitution and drug charges last month entered a plea Wednesday in Lake County court Wednesday.
Mary K. Butler, 25, pleaded not guilty to charges of possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and prostitution.
Leesburg police officers found an ad on skipthegames.com, a website commonly used by prostitutes to solicit customers. The ad included provocative photos of a female under the name of “Taylor,” later identified as Butler of Fruitland Park, according to the arrest report.
The site had a phone number for customers to text as well as a list of explicit sexual acts she was willing to perform. Officers texted Butler to see if she was available to which she replied,“Yes I am,” according to the report. Butler agreed to a meeting at the Quality Inn and informed the officer by text that she would be charging $200 per hour. One officer in plain clothes waited in a hotel room, while other officers waited in the room’s restroom. Butler was arrested when she opened the restroom door. Police found that she had heroin and drug paraphernalia in her purse.
Butler’s next court date is April 18.
