Edu Roblero

A 29-year-old Leesburg man was arrested after he allegedly battered his pregnant girlfriend and bit her lip during an argument over his drinking habits.

The victim told a Leesburg Police officer that Edu Roblero returned to their Mispah Avenue home at around 6 p.m. Sunday and was very intoxicated. She said they started arguing over his recent drinking habits as well as some ongoing issues about possible extramarital affairs, according to the police report.

The victim said as the argument escalated, Roblero approached her, grabbed her by the face and bit her bottom lip. She said she was able to break away from Roblero, and while her back was turned to him, he struck her on the right side of the face. The victim was unable to say whether she was hit with an open or closed fist, the report said.

The victim told the officer she is four months pregnant and Roblero is the father, according to the report.

The officer found Roblero standing in the driveway of a neighbor’s house and asked him what happened. Roblero said he arrived home from drinking at a local bar and got into an argument with his girlfriend. He said he only bit the victim on the lip and did not strike her. Roblero then said he didn’t want to further cooperate with law enforcement, the report said.

Roblero was charged with simple battery of a pregnant victim. He was taken to the Lake County Jail, where he was released Monday on $2,500 bond. Roblero is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court on April 5.
