Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Owen (81) of Leesburg, FL passed away December 1, 2020 at Cornerstone Hospice House in The Villages, FL. She was born January 20, 1939 in Clay Sink, FL.
Beth is survived by her children, Jack B. Owen, Jr (Kelly) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Thomas E. Owen (Leslie) of Paola, KS, and Pamela E. Myer of Leesburg, FL. She was also blessed with grandchildren Lindsey, Courtney, Adair, Judith, Bradley, Jared, Madison and Cassity, and great grandchildren, Owen, Reese, Tate, Jack, Lucy, Alexander, Theodore, Felicity, Duncan and Clementine. She is also survived by her sister Judith Bowman of Virginia. Beth was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison Owen Slaughter Sr and Grace Lee Patterson Slaughter and her siblings, Harrison Owen Slaughter Jr, Laurece Slaughter, Richard Slaughter and Carol Slaughter.
Beth was a long-time member at South 14th St. Church of Christ in Leesburg. She loved Bible classes and volunteering. She was a career registered nurse serving others and was a member of the Florida Retired Nurses Society. She was also a real estate broker-agent. One of Beth’s favorite pastimes was spending time with her family.
There will be a visitation at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel at 1123 W. Main St. in Leesburg, FL on Thursday, December 3rd from 5-7 pm. A funeral service will take place Friday, December 4th at the S. 14th St. Church of Christ at 1506 S. 14th St. in Leesburg at 11:00 am. Immediately following will be interment at the Greenwood Cemetery in Wildwood, FL.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mount Dora Home and Bible School or Cornerstone Hospice House in The Villages.
