The City of Leesburg is preparing to break ground on its new $5.2-million aquatic center.

The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30 at 10 a.m. at the site of the new facility at the corner of Canal Street and Pine Street. The public is invited to attend the historic event.

This rendering shows the new $5.2-million aquatic center that’s being built near downtown Leesburg. It will include an eight-lane competition pool, a zero-entry multi-purpose pool with a slide and a 2,100-square-foot building to house administrative space and restroom/shower facilities.

The complex, which will sit on the 4.61 acre parcel that’s close to the downtown area, replaces the Venetian Gardens pool that was demolished in 2018 to make way for the Venetian Center.
