The City of Leesburg is preparing to break ground on its new $5.2-million aquatic center.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30 at 10 a.m. at the site of the new facility at the corner of Canal Street and Pine Street. The public is invited to attend the historic event.
Once it’s completed, the new aquatic center will include an eight-lane competition pool, a zero-entry multi-purpose pool with a slide and a 2,100-square-foot building to house administrative space and restroom/shower facilities. The complex, which will sit on the 4.61 acre parcel that’s close to the downtown area, replaces the Venetian Gardens pool that was demolished in 2018 to make way for the Venetian Center.
The new facility was designed by CPH Engineering with its partner, Water Technology Inc., and will be built by Evergreen Construction. For more information, call the Leesburg Public Works Department at (352) 435-9442.
