An officer responded to 7-Eleven, located at 2058 U.S. Hwy. 27/441, regarding a theft around 9:40 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.

Upon arrival, the officer met with the manager. He explained that he was informed by one of his employees that a cash deposit which was pulled on April 26 in the amount of $4,840 was missing. He subsequently went into the store to review the video cameras, the report said.

The complainant watched the footage and observed the deposit bag on the floor next to the safe at 8:25 a.m. Sunday. Another employee, Fillmore, noticed the bag and picked it up multiple times until about 9:40 a.m., at one point throwing it further back under the counter. The original employee that put the deposit together came into the store at about 9:30 a.m. and mentioned the deposit bag to Fillmore, the report said.

Then at 9:48 a.m., Fillmore could be seen grabbing the bag again, lifting her shirt and making movements to conceal the bag under her clothing. She proceeded to stand up, adjust her clothing and look around her. Fillmore was later asked if she knew where the bag was, which she advised she did not, the report said.

The complainant further advised that Fillmore was supposed to come into work Monday but called off her shift. She instead called another employee to ask if the money was found, and the employee told her it was not. Fillmore advised that she would be in for her shift the next day, the report said.

The officer ultimately made contact with Fillmore at her residence, located at 520 Old Colony Road, with the assistance of the Leesburg Police Department. He advised Fillmore of her rights, and she stated that she understood them but was unsure what officers wanted. The officer explained their reasoning, and she originally denied knowledge of the deposit money, the report said.

Once Fillmore was detained and handcuffed, she told officers that she would show them the location of the deposit bag and money. She led them into her residence and to a hallway closet where she stated they were under a towel. An LPD officer found the bag and a portion of the money being as Fillmore admitted to spending some of it, leaving a total of $3,040, the report said.

Fillmore was charged with grand theft and transported to Lake County Jail. The New York native was released after posting $2,500 bond.
