Thai restaurant in Mount Dora shut down due to rodents and roaches

A Thai restaurant in Mount Dora was forced to shut down last week due to rodents and roaches.

An inspector ordered the closure this past Friday of JK Thai & Sushi after finding three live roaches in an air fryer, according to a report on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

The inspector also found 30 rodent droppings in the restaurant, which is located at 116 East 5th Ave., across from Donnelly Park.

Several other violations were discovered, including:

• An employee engaging in food preparation without a hair restraint

• Raw chicken thawing in a back storage area

• An accumulation of black mold in an ice machine

• Grease and debris buildup in a microwave

• A hole in the wall near a pipe in the dry storage area

• An accumulation of debris  in the warewashing machine.

The Thai restaurant was also operating with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license.
