The City of Eustis has announced that Lori Carr is the new finance director for the city.

She is taking the place of Mike Sheppard, who is retiring from the city after a long and distinguished career.

Carr is a Florida native and a Certified Government Finance Officer. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Stetson University with a major in geography and a minor in economics. She obtained her master’s degree in business administration from Nova University. With more than 25 years of experience in governmental finance, she began her public service career with the Village of Tequesta, Fl., and has since worked for other small to medium sized municipalities in addition to a water/sewer utility, a sheriff’s office and a school board.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to work for the city and becoming a part of the city’s leadership team. I lived in Eustis years ago and have always appreciated the small-town appeal of the city,” Carr said.

Carr’s selection was approved unanimously by the City Commission on March 21, and she began her new position on April 11.

“We are happy to have someone of Lori’s experience taking the helm of our Finance Department, and we look forward to working with her,” said City Manager Tom Carrino.
