Joyce H. O’Neill was born to James M. Hill and Murriel J. Hill in Elizabeth City, N.C. She was married to the late Shaun O’Neill for 53 years and is survived by her sons: Troy (Rita), Shaun (Heather) and Brian (Erika), sisters: Cheryl Lynn Gilchrest (Mike) and Jenny Murph, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had one brother, the late James M. Hill, Jr.

Joyce was a devoted wife and mother. She had a servants heart and always made sure she took care of everyone’s needs when they were in her presence. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with and doting on her family. She loved nothing more than being a wife to her beloved Shaun and mom to her three sons, whom she cherished dearly.

Joyce and Shaun spent a great number of hours traveling in their camper with the boys, along with the dog and cat in tow, and had many fond memories of life on the road, to include board game nights, and enjoying the simplicities of life. They spent their retired years traveling the U.S. and working as campground hosts. They especially enjoyed their time in Pigeon Forge, working in Dollywood, and made a point to get those free tickets for all the family to come enjoy the park and relax in the beautiful Smoky Mountains together.

Joyce adored her little fur companion, Bowie. She cooked his meals daily and spoiled him rotten. You would always find them sitting together, snuggling and enjoying each others company.

Joyce was a very giving and caring person and was strong in her faith. She always had words of encouragement and would sing your praises tenfold if you shared a story with her of any kind of accomplishment. She enjoying reading the bible, daily devotionals, going yard selling, visiting thrift stores and watching crime tv shows.

As Joyce often stated would be true one day…..She is walking with Jesus.
