An officer responded to a battery at an undisclosed Leesburg residence around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

Upon the officer’s arrival, the male victim advised that he and his girlfriend of two months, later identified as 32-year-old Brittany Ann Rowe, had gotten into an argument about him being on his cellphone with a friend. Rowe wanted him to leave and kicked him out of the house, the report said.

The victim told Rowe that he needed a ride to the airport so he could return to Michigan where he was from. She made a comment about him talking to other girls, to which he replied, “Yup, and they look better than you.” This was when Rowe picked up “a thing off the grill” and smacked him with it, the report said.

Rowe continued striking the victim with an open hand to the back of his head and neck area. She also started pulling on his shirt repeatedly. At that point, the victim walked outside and called the police, the report said.

The report noted that the statement made by the victim was in line with the physical evidence on scene. The officer observed that the white shirt the victim wore was stretched and torn, along with dirty grill residue markings from the grill grate thrown at his person. He did not see any markings on his head or neck area where Rowe allegedly struck him with an open hand, the report said.

The officer then met with Rowe who advised that she and the victim got into an argument and decided to end their relationship. She stated that the victim started to yell and got into her face. She told him that she would take him to the airport so he could go back to Michigan where he was from, the report said.

This was when the victim threw her clothes into the trash can outside, threw the grill down and again got in her face. She stated this was when she pulled his shirt “cause he was in my face.” The officer did not observe any markings to Rowe on scene, and she advised that at no time did the victim touch or strike her person, the report said.

Rowe was ultimately arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic) and transported to Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $1,000 bond.
