Born in Hagerstown, MD March 25, 1943, and passed peacefully in Huntsville, AL April 28, 2024, with her children holding her and surrounded by her grandchildren.
Monica moved to Leesburg, Fl early in life and graduated from Leesburg High School in 1961. She continued her education and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lake Sumter Community College with associate in arts and English.
Monica worked in the beauty industry for over 50 years as an Esthetician and Educator. She owned and operated the first day spa, Totally You, in Lake County Florida. She was nationally board certified through CEDECO as an educator, where she was able to travel the world educating women and men on skin care. Monica donated her time and knowledge to cancer and surgery patients to help with their skin care and makeup routines. She was also a dedicated supporter of charities for children of child abuse.
Monica was an avid lover of theatre and directed and starred in many plays at the Melon Patch Theatre in Leesburg, FL and at Lake Sumter Community College. She lived a full life and was loved by many friends and family.
She is survived by her brother Robert Mock of Ocala, FL and children Jena (Gowan) and Michael Lutz of Huntsville, Al and Richard J Gowan of Ann Arbor, MI, sister-in-law Judy Owens. She had 6 grandchildren, Bradley A. Smith, Courtney H. Gowan, Kyle A. Smith, Corey A. Smith, Meghan E. Gowan, Jennifer A. Lutz, and 6 great grandchildren Jacob B. Smith, Jannelle D. Sidbury, Savannah N. Smith, Jayla R. Lutz, Josiah M. Lutz, Ada M. Smith whom she loved fiercely.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles A Leedom, Mother Bettie Marie Kromer (Cornelius), Father Charles D Kromer, Sister Shelia Mock.
There will be no services at her wishes and her family will be spreading her ashes, along with her beloved mother and husband in the ash garden at Morrison Methodist Church in Leesburg, FL where she was a member.
