Kathleen Ann Johanning, 81, of Leesburg, FL died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

Kathleen (Kathy) was born March 12,1943 in Sheboygan County, WI, the daughter of Alfred and LaVerne (Albrecht) Sonnemann. She attended Howards Grove schools and graduated Marian College in Fond du Lac with her BA in 1987.

On November 12,1960 she was united in marriage to Conrad (Connie) Johanning. She held a varied career including several business ventures of her own. From 1978 to 1984 she and Connie owned and managed Trout Haven Resort in Dunbar, WI. Upon graduating college, she was an insurance agent with WFLA for 20+ years. She and Connie enjoyed their winters in Zapata, TX until recently relocating to Leesburg, FL. Most important to Kathy were family and friends. She will be remembered for her hospitality and love of playing games.

Kathy is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband Connie, four children: Jackie (Kerry) Drake, Manitowoc, WI, Jeffrey (Kim) Johanning, Birnamwood, WI, Penny (Steve) Antell, Tomahawk, WI and Kristine (Doug) Becker, Clermont, FL, ten grandchildren Joseph (Amanda) Drake, Debra (Dietrich) Riniker; Jerica (Shawn) Kosky, Kade Johanning, Lydia Antell, Dustin (Angie) Antell, Kim Antell, Cheyenne Antell, Austin Becker and Lauren Becker, and eight great grandchildren Ethan, Joseph, and Meadow Drake, Anders Riniker, Emmalyn and Raelyne Kosky, Aubree and Vince Antell. Her sisters Donna Meives, Joanne Olson, brother Randall (Janice Ann) Sonnemann, and brother-in-law Jim Hansen, and many friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Scott Sonnemann, brothers-in-law Otis Meives, Fritz Johanning, and Preston Scanland, sister-in-law Helen Hansen and parents-in-law Herbert and Erna Johanning.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 13 at St. Peters Evangelical Church, W5375 Cty. Rd. FF, Elkhart Lake, WI.

In lieu of flowers a memorial garden fund has been established in Kathy’s name. Donations may be mailed to Conrad Johanning.
